Mrs. Roux's 4th graders

Happy Monday! Mrs. Roux's fourth graders were a cheerful bunch this morning.  We painted our clay projects and did they ever turn out wonderful.  The room was eerily silent as students concentrated on fine detail brush work, painting their sprinkles in the specific color, edging their cherries in red and carefully hitting the bottom on their ice cream cones with the exact shade of brown paint.

Last week we studied the artwork of Wayne Thiebaud and created ceramic sculptures in his genre, dessert! Students carefully formed pinch pots for cupcake bottoms and flattened clay for lids.  The 4th grade could not be stopped at cupcakes though, there were root beer floats, sundaes, slices of birthday cake, donuts and entire gourmet cakes.  We concentrated on the curriculum for forming, modeling and constructing the clay, they did a very impressive job and most importantly expressed themselves creatively.
