Welcome to the 2014- 2015 school year.  Here is the art room we have big plans.  I am back from maternity leave and ready for a full year of teaching and learning.

This year we will concentrate on printmaking.  Students will explore mono-prints, stamps, stencils, relief printing, printing with objects, silk screen and simple printing plates.  I love printmaking and I hope my excitement can get our students attention and spark an interest in these age old techniques.

Each year the art curriculum focuses on these lessons:

4 drawing lessons
4 painting lessons
4 sculpture lessons
2 printmaking lessons
2 collage lessons
2 art appreciation lessons

A goal of the Kincaid Art room is to incorporate art appreciation into every lesson.  If we are studying sculpture in 6th grade we will view the works of Michelangelo and listen to a brief biography of his life while doing our hands on art lessons.  I am aim to have students up, creating, involved and interested in every art lesson.  While we may sit in a circle to discuss and interpret art we will always have hands on time, most of the time those hands will get dirty!

To start this year off we are concentrating on self portraits.  Students 2-6 will be creating self portraits to display for Back to School Night September 4th.
