Today in art class we continued working on our Henna designs. The 5th grade has been sketching different Henna tattoo designs and than created a printing plate based on these ideas. We looked at Henna art in India and discussed it's role in Indian culture. This morning we started the fun and messy part, we brought out the brayers and started to roll! The kids mixed warm and cool colors to create beautiful backgrounds and rolled their printing plate in black ink to create a very vivid print with the Henna design. The ink takes a few days to dry and I than I hope to hang it in the foyer here at Kincaid, keep an eye out for some outrageously beautiful art.
